Bidston Hill
Pros
Large space to film in, likely to be undisturbed while filming, can used to make a film in a variety of genres (ideally horror action).
Cons
Public space, looks good at night but lighting would be difficult
Oval Field/Bebington Cemetery

Good setting for a horror film, wide selection of areas to shoot,

May require permission to film on, floodlights may distort image/lighting,

Final Plan for Production
Genre-Action
Setting/Location- Bidston Hill
Reasoning behind this choice is that the location needs to be eerie and desolate which fits the mould of Bidston Hill along with the natural surroundings and creepiness of the woods at night playing a role in the decision making process.
Costume- Callum=Black leather trench-coat, gas mask. Mike+Luke=Generally dark, regular clothing.
These choices were made to be inconspicuous and allow for generic characterisation to emphasise the importance of the stand-out character
Lighting- Varying levels of light for artistic perspective along with certain censorship e.g darkens if there is stealthy violence, lightens up if it is a fight scene.
Props-Duffel bag, knives, gas mask, gun.
The use of props which are going to be used as weapons shows off the action element of the film and foreshadows the violence to come

Planning of Production-Connotations of a Horror/Action Project
Our group settled on our project being an action film with horror elements as these came out as the top two options in my survey. Secondly this genre area suits our style of filmmaking paired with our enthusiasm for the conventions associated with these genres.
Today, we discussed the idea of a combat scene featuring in the production. This lead to a joint decision that a combat scene will be featuring in our production however there were still issues of contrasting opinions. An example of this is whether or not we would feature on screen deaths with a vote of 3-1 in favour of having an onscreen death. We watched fight scenes from various films and discussed whether or not we would be using weapons. Once again it was a case of voting which came out as 3-1 in favour of featuring weapons in order to make the on screen death more realistic.

This will be reflected in our project as we will utilise various camera shots to enhance the gritty ethos that will be retained throughout the project.

Review of Seven
The mise en scene in the opening to this film helps build up the suspense for the film. In the opening there is emphasis on props such as books, and photographs of hand sizes, this provides a element of suspicion for the viewer, as they wonder what is happening. There is also emphasis shown of using a razor to take the skin off the fingers, this suggests that someone wants to remove their fingerprints and hide their identity. There is also use of photographs and then the same photographs with faces crossed out, this suggests that there will be murder within this film. This is also done with crossing out certain words from a newspaper article; this also suggests that there is also crime within this film.
The use of sound within this film helps create an atmosphere and a mood for the film. The music for the opening is by Nine Inch Nails, this music is eerie, yet it has areas where the music goes creaky, and this suggests that there are elements of hiding or creeping within this film. The music is sharp and distinctive within this opening; it is also very edgy which helps build up the suspense for this film.
There are many camera angles used within this film. The opening shots in this film are close ups of props such as a book. There is also use of crane shot; this is of the hand shots. There is also up of high angled shots during the film, in areas such as when the writing is being crossed out and when the face is being crossed out of the photo, this suggests that the man has power over the people in the photographs. There is also a close up of shaving off the fingerprints; this suggests that the hiding of identity is a theme throughout this film.
